England’s white-ball captain and star wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler has been ruled out of next month’s ODI tri-series in Pakistan due to a hamstring injury.

According to details, Jos Buttler’s participation in Australia’s tour in November has also become doubtful.

Jos Buttler suffered the injury during the match against Sri Lanka at Headingley. He resumed batting for a while but was later unable to continue playing.

In Buttler’s absence, Jordan Cox is likely to get a regular opportunity in the middle order along with wicketkeeping duties.

Cox scored his first ODI half-century in the decisive match of the series against Sri Lanka, scoring 76 runs off 52 balls.

Head coach Brendon McCullum said that injuries to key players also provide England with an opportunity to assess the abilities of alternative players before the World Cup.

According to him, the team will have to plan in advance for possible challenges.
